As today marks International Youth Day, the Executive Director of Youth Empowerment Synergy, a youth development and research organisation, Emmanuel Edudzie is calling on government to review the National Youth Policy as it does not echo the views and aspirations of the youth in the country.

Speaking on Uniq FM in Accra, Mr. Edudzie urged government to take a bold decision to review the National Youth Policy by involving the youth as the lead players in the decision process.

Emmanuel Edudzie believes that “when it comes to National Youth Policy, the process of developing it is just as important as the outcome.

When young people are not part of it especially when developing it then there is no ownership and there is no acceptance and more importantly, the information there does not reflect the views and aspirations of the young people,” he explained.

The institutional framework of the policy is incoherent, so the policy does not come clear in regard to the institution that will lead when it comes to youth development he asserted.

The youth development and research organisation boss further advised government to make use of the technological era and engage the youth through social media and community radios.
