The government has been urged to subsidize electricity to ‘child care centres’ [orphanage homes] in the country.

The Coordinator of the Good Shepherd Child Care Centre at Odupong Ofaakor in the Awutu Senya East Municipal of the Central Region, Rev Nimako Boateng, who made the call in an interview with Prime News Ghana, explained that the high cost of electricity is hampering their operations.

Rev Nimako Boateng made the appeal when the Chief Executive Officer for Kidz Place Playground at Dansoman in Accra, Mrs Eunice Smart Kwainoe, donated assorted items and an undisclosed amount of money to the Good Shepherd Child Care Centre.

Rev Nimako said the Centre does not have portable water and as such, they depend on bole hole for water and the machine that is used to pump the water has high consumption of electricity which needs urgent support.

Mrs Smart Kwainoe donated items such as rice, sugar, soft drinks, biscuits, among others, which formed part of her birthday celebration which fell on Thursday, June 21, 2018.

Speaking in an interview with Prime News Ghana, Mrs. Smart Kwainoe said children are blessing to the society so those who have should not neglect them.
