More than five communities in the Gushegu Municipality have been cut off following a downpour Thursday afternoon.
The flood was as a result of halt in construction of the Eastern Corridor roads. The Thursday rains started around 2:30pm and lasted for over an hour.
Construction of the Eastern Corridor road ended at the Gushegu Township for more than two years.
The stalled project has been attributed to lack of funds. The remaining portion floods anytime it rains.
Thursday downpour for instance cut off more than five communities from accessing Gushegu.
Residents who have come to Gushegu from adjoining communities could not return home as the flood increases in volume.
Residents narrates they have had to battle with the situation since the Eastern Corridor road project stalled. Pupils could also not go to school due to the floods.
