A former Member of Parliament of Nkoranza North Eric Amoateng has been acquitted and discharged on a charge of possessing a forged document.

Mr Amoateng who was arrested in August 2014 for allegedly possesing a lady's passport which was issued on February 23, 2009, a time when he was serving a 10 year jail term in the United States for drug traffickin, according to Graphic Online, was acquitted on Tuesday.

It will be recalled that the former Nkoranza North MP was arrested in 2005, tried for possesion of heroin and was subsequently jailed ten years.

He was only released on July 30th, 2014 which means he must have been in jail when the passport was issued but it looks like the prosecution failed to prove its case.
