I am not demonstrating for Koku Anyidoho – Spio

Spio-Garbrah, NDC flagbearer hopeful, has distanced himself from the treasonable comments Koku Anyidoho made on Happy FM.

According to Spio-Garbrah, he joining the Ghana First Demonstration to protest against the US-Ghana defence cooperation deal does not necessarily mean he endorses the comments made by Koku Anyidoho.

In a post on his Facebook Wall, today Wednesday, 28 March 2018: “The demonstration was announced long before Koku's arrest. So, the demo was/is not about Koku's arrest but the general misgovernance of Ghana leading to the Military Agreement with the USA. Joining others to see to the welfare of Koku does not imply agreement with any statement”.

 The CID of the Ghana Police Service on  March 27, 2018picked up Koku Anyidoho, Deputy General Secretary of Opposition NDC.

The CID of the Ghana Police Service stormed the International Press Center in Accra to arrest Koku Anyidoho for allegedly making some treasonable comments.

Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Koku Anyidoho has said he still believes there will be a civilian coup d'etat to remove the Akufo-Addo government in the near future.

Speaking in an interview on Starr FM, Koku Anyidoho explained that there is nothing wrong with a civil coup if it means taking back Ghana's sovereignty.

“I said history has an interesting way of repeating itself…we are revolting against the President and what is wrong with that…who is talking about a military takeover? We won’t allow the sovereignty of the nation to be taken for granted,” the NDC executive said.

Koku Anyidoho in an interview with Happy FM on Monday claimed a series of activities to unsettle the Akufo-Addo government will take off on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, with a planned nationwide demonstration.

“Somebody should tell Nana Akufo-Addo that history has a very interesting way of repeating itself,” Koku Anyidoho said.

 “On January 13, 1972, a certain Col. Ignatius Kutu Acheampong led a movement that removed the Progress Party from power. Busia was the Prime Minister and Akufo-Addo’s father was a ceremonial president. Somebody should tell Nana Akufo-Addo that history has a very interesting way of repeating itself.

“There’ll be a civil revolt. There’ll be a people’s movement. During President John Mahama’s tenure didn’t we receive similar threats from the likes of Let My Vote Count and OccupyGhana,” the former presidential spokesperson opined.
