IGP's vehicle involved in a deadly road accident

One official vehicle of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante-Apeatu, was involved in a  fatal accident on the  Accra-Kumasi Highway on Wednesday, June 21.

The Toyota Land Cruise, driven by  Chief Inspector John Ankomah,  crashed into a KIA Rhino truck at about 9:20pm, at Nkawanda No. 2 near Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region.

The KIA Rhino truck, with registration number GW 1756, driven by 28-year-old Alhassan Kipo, was transporting  fertilizer from Accra to Tamale when the IGP’s vehicle, rammed into it.

The driver and another passenger on board sustained injuries and have since been admitted to the Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw for treatment.

However, the Inspector General of Police David Asante-Apeatu, was not in his vehicle.
