Immigration Service in Ashanti deports 30 Chinese nationals

Regional Commander for the Immigration Service, Isaac Luortey has declared that over 30 Chinese nationals have been sent packing.

“We repatriated during the period 37 foreign nationals mostly Chinese nationals engaged in illegal mining. I wish to assure you that the Ghana Immigration Service for that matter the Ashanti Regional Command is fully prepared to play our part to ensure a successful and peaceful election” he assured Prosper Bani, Interior Minister on his Ashanti Regional tour.

Chinese nationals have reportedly been illegally involved in shallow mining also called ‘galamsey’, decimating lands and polluting river bodies.
