The  Information Services Department (ISD) had a budget allocation of only  GHC10,000 for their operations for the whole of 2016, Minister-designate for Information, Mustapha Hamid has disclosed.

According to him, his checks to know the rudiments of the ministry after his nomination was announced revealed that the GHC10,000 was divided between the ten regional offices of the Department for their operations.

This amount of money was way inadequate to cater for the needs of the ISD  which is the principal Public Relations outfit of the Government both home and abroad and has offices in all the ten regions and currently has 191 district offices.

Speaking Joy FM's Newsfile on Saturday, he stated that such is the case when so many departments are put under one ministry as their budget would have to be shared for all departments.

"It is in this vein that Nana Addo has created ministries of Aviation and Railways Development out of the Transport Ministry in order to get the sectors the much-needed attention and funding".

"We're working to fulfil our promises within four years and we don't want to cramp so many departments under one person who would not have the full focus to achieve the set targets", he added.
