Kwabenya Police shooting: 12 suspects to be arraigned before court

Twelve suspects arrested in connection with the killing of a police officer at the Kwabenya police post will be arraigned before an Accra Circuit court tomorrow January 30, 2018.

The twelve suspects according to the police service played various roles in the jailbreak and killing of Inspector Emmanuel Ashilevi at the Kwabenya police post.

The Ghana Police Service on Saturday, January 27 picked up the main suspect believed to have shot the Police officer at the Kwabenya police post in Accra.

The suspect Kofi Shesie was arrested with five others by the Accra Police Command at Kasoa in the Central Region.

According to reports, another suspect believe to be a notorious armed robber connected to most crimes in the country was also picked up last night but police are yet to release details of the said suspect.

Also in police custody is a bread seller identified as Nancy Benta who sells near the police post. She is suspected of sneaking her phone into the cells to facilitate the jailbreak.

The mastermind of the jailbreak Nana Obuo has also been arrested bringing the number of suspects to 12.

Confirming the number of suspects arrested so far Director General, Public Affairs of Police ACP David Senanu Eklu said the police will on Tuesday arraign these suspects before the Accra Circuit court.

Inspector General of Police David Asante-Apeatu at a short ceremony to commemorate the passing of the late Inspector Emmanuel Ashilevi said the Police Service will every year remember the late police officer as done for other officers who died in their line of duty at the Tesano Police Training Centre.
