Popular fetish priest, Kwaku Bonsam has revealed his intentions to lead a demonstration against the siting of a gas filling station in Akomadan Afrancho in the Ashanti Region.

According to him, residents in the community are living in fear of a possible explosion, similar to what occurred at Atomic junction not long ago.

He indicated that the station in question, is nothing more than a ticking time bomb, and it could go off soon.

He went ahead to verbally attack the operators of the facility, labeling them as selfish. Government has taken measures to ensure such unfortunate situation is averted but it has been opposed vehemently by gas operators.

Nana Kwaku Bonsam, whose real name is Stephen Osei Mensah stated that he has some permanent scars, as a result of a gas explosion some years ago.

Throwing more light on it, he said that at age 19, he suffered severe burns when he walked into the path of gas as he carried a lantern. The flame triggered an explosion, and he still has extensive burns to his face and torso when he was released from the hospital.

He added that the incident caused him to drop out of school; he, therefore, worked as a mechanic. In the light of this, he has purposed in his heart that no member of his community would suffer a similar fate, hence his decision to demonstrate.

He revealed that he has had several surgeries to correct his face because he is well-to-do; he, therefore, wondered what those without the means to go for a surgery would do, in the event of a disaster.

He mentioned that he has formally written to the police with regard to the intended action. He praised the government for the plan to ensure that gas explosions in this country are a thing of the past.
