A group calling itself the Concerned Spare parts Association converged at Circle, Obra spot on March 7, 2019, to demonstrate against the vehicle luxury levy, which was introduced by the government last year.

The demonstration by the Association was titled ''Bobolebobo demonstration''. The Public Relations Officer of the Association said their businesses are been collapsed by President Akufo-Addo and Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta.

PRO of the National Concerned Spare Parts Dealers Association, Takyi Addo said:  ''We are here for one common goal, Ken Ofori Atta and his people are duping us and destroying our businesses. Our businesses are collapsing, we sponsored Nana Addo, we brought Nana Addo into power to help our businesses. Now Nana Addo and Ofori Atta are collapsing our businesses, our businesses are dying''.

He added that their petition was not headed to after various consultations from the government.

''We petitioned the committee of transport in Parliament, Ministry of finance, the Jubilee house unfortunately, it was only the Ministry of Finance who responded to us saying they will meet us, that week they went to Parliament to pass the law which means they don't respect us, we are the kingmakers, we have the ability to bring you to power and take you out''.

The PRO stated that he wants the government to scrap the vehicle luxury levy because it's collapsing their business and that they are facing economic hardships.

The government last year revealed a new tax imposed on luxury vehicles that are brought to Ghana.

The Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta, said all luxury cars with an engine capacity of 3.0 litres and above, will attract a tax of between GHS1000 and GHS2000.
