The President of the National Executive Council of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA), Philip Quaye has been suspended following allegations of malfeasance and stated misconduct towards council members.

A statement signed by the Acting NASPA president, Mohammed Hardi, has, therefore, warned the general public not to deal with the suspended president.

Meanwhile, the National Service Secretariat on Tuesday, December 13, 2017, amended the mandatory insurance policy, thus making it optional for interested national service personnel.

The secretariat in a press statement signed by the Executive Director, Ussif Mustapha said the policy has now been made optional after a broad consultation with stakeholders on the policy and how best to serve the interest of the service personnel.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) in October asked all regional directors to ensure the deduction of Ghc15.00 from the allowances of all National Service Personnel effective November 2017, as part of the implementation of the compulsory insurance package for personnel.

Several service personnel protested against the insurance policy while signing petitions such as "Say no to a compulsory insurance policy", and sending another to CHRAJ to halt what they termed as "daylight robbery".
