The National Service Secratariat (NSS) has denied reports of an increment in the allowance of service personnel.

There have been reports of an increment of personal allowances from 350 cedis to 430 cedis but the NSS has asked the general public to disregard any news of increment in allowances.

According to a statement signed by the scheme's Deputy Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Gifty Oware Aboagye, the Secretariat was engaged in discussions with Parliament over its budget and will in due course officially communicate to the public and all service personnel, the outcome of the ongoing engagements with parliament over budget and allowance increments.

Read the statement below:

March 24, 2017.

The management of the National Service Scheme is asking the General public and service personnel to disregard news making rounds that National Service Allowances have been increased from GHC 350 to GHC 430.

Increments in National Services allowances featured prominently in the scheme's budget which is currently before Parliament for appropriation.

The scheme will in due course communicate officially to the General public and our cherished personnel on the outcome of our engagements with Parliament over our budget and increments in service allowances specifically.

We will reiterate our commitment to ensuring that the utmost interest of personnel is protected in all our engagements over increments in service personnel allowances.

Thank you.

Signed

Gifty Oware Aboagye
Deputy Executive Director,
Finance and Administration.
