The National Democratic Congress(NDC) has suspended a constituency chairman for allegedly misusing party funds collected during the 2016 elections.
Chairman for Jomoro constituency in the Western Region, Gideon Koniba is accused of collecting funds from party members in the constituency as well as members in its Cote D’Ivoire branch in the run-up to the 2016 elections for the procurement of outboard motors.
The Functional Executive Council (FEC) of the party, on November 28, 2017, after deliberations on the matter concluded that Gideon Konibah’s conduct is unacceptable and is in breach of article 46 8(b) and (c) of the party’s constitution.

A letter signed by General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia said the chairman has therefore been suspended from the party pending commencement of disciplinary proceedings by the National Disciplinary Committee.
The statement added that the council had referred the matter to the National Disciplinary Committee for action.
Mr. Koniba will however, remain suspended to allow for a disciplinary hearing after which a decision would be taken.
