The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) is blaming the past Mahama led administration of crippling the organisation with gross mismanagement.

Deputy Director General of NADMO, Abu Ramadan says the organization is bankrupt and is struggling to even provide relief items for flood victims or carry out much of its core mandate.

NADMO has come under heavy criticism after failing to provide relief items to victims of the Tamale floods a week after the disaster. Hundreds of people are destitute and in need of basic items of survival such as food and clothing.

Explaining the reason for the delay on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Mr Ramadan disclosed that the past government left a debt of over GH₵40 million, which they could not account for, and as a result NADMO is crippled without any funding.

He cautioned the opposition party to stop blaming NADMO for the delay because their ‘mess’ has slowed the organisation activities.

Abu Ramadan however said some emergency funds have been secured and trucks loads of supplies ranging from food, utensils, clothes, mosquito nets and several others have been dispatched to the Tamale Metropolis to support the flood victims, and that latest by Wednesday, August 2, 2017, all victims will be catered for.
