The usual mad-rush which characterizes the sale of police enlistment forms is virtually absent in the Sunyani Municipality.

Friday, December 15 is the deadline for the sales of the enlistment forms which became available this morning.

During the visit by the Ghana News Agency around 0630 hours to the Sunyani main branch of the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), a point of sale, only few applicants had queued up to buy the recruitment forms.

That notwithstanding, some applicants told the GNA on Monday that they arrived at the premises of the GCB around 0430 to avoid anticipated long queues.

Most of them had travelled from major towns in the region such as Dormaa-Ahenkro, Berekum, Drobo, Goaso, Bechem, Kenyasi, Hwidiem, Sampa and Mim to buy the recruitment forms.

"I thought it was very early in the morning when I was coming, but I wanted to avoid the long queues associated with the sales", Richard Adu Kumi one of the applicants noted.

Kumi, a university degree holder, who said he had travelled from Mim in the Asunafo North Municipality told the GNA that he had searched for job in the past two years but had not gotten one.

Another female applicant, Agnes Owusuaa from Dormaa-Ahenkro said she was happy that patronage was low.
Owusuaa, a Senior High School graduate said she was optimistic that an opportunity would be created for her to join the police service so to enable her fend for her poor family.

Meanwhile, the applicants have expressed abhorrence on delays in the selling of the recruitment forms. During a follow-up visit around 1000 hours, the applicants were seen waiting patiently in the morning sun.

They affirmed that the selling process was very slow, though the queue had gone down. When contacted, a personnel at the Bank told the GNA on condition of anonymity that the delay was as a result of poor networking, and advised the applicants to remain patient as the bank solved the problem.
