The Minority in Parliament say Pastor Mensa Otabil is “happy” the bank on which he served as a board member collapsed, contrary to a sermon he delivered where he said the incident impacted negatively on him.

The license of both Capital and UT banks were withdrawn by the Bank of Ghana bank after becoming insolvent. GCB subsequently moved in to take over their operations, pulling down down and replacing logos with theirs.

Employees of the two banks are currently on a six-month probation and the account of top management now a subject of investigations by the central bank.

Pastor Otabil himself has been subjected to barrages of attacks from a section of the public who are pointing accusing fingers at him for not offering the needed support to pull the bank out of the mud.

But in a sermon delivered on Sunday at church, Pastor Otabil responded to some of the insults directed at him. He said there are people at the bottom of the pile who are excited to see others go down with them because they have nothing better in their lives to be happy with. Such persons, according to him, look like “insult” but are “insulting” others.

His response has however angered the minority who are now asking him to apologize to them. NDC MP Benjamin Kpodo told JoyFm their side feels insulted by the remarks coming from the man of God.

Mr Kpodo said those whose money are with the bank are depressed but Pastor Otabil is happy and does not care about how customers of the bank feel.

He therefore called for him to apologize for what he insisted was an insult against the minority.
