Authorities at the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital have asked for extra security at the facility following an attack by some individuals suspected to be land guards on Monday.

According to officials, the men besieged the facility and proceeded to clear a portion of the land belonging to the hospital.

They also refused to leave the facility despite pleas by police and hospital officials.

Head of Communication at Pantang, Elvis Akuamoah who spoke to Joy News, said, the land guards practically threatened their lives.

"They have cleared a portion they are not supposed to because, government has asked that all development must be stopped but they are going on with their activities without listening to anybody," he stated.

The Pantang Psychiatric Hospital was recently in the news following a sit -down strike by staff of the facility after investors took over larger portions of the hospital's lands.

Government stepped in to address the situation and assured the hospital that, measures would be put in place to ensure the hospital is free from encroachments.

But it seems the investors are gradually going back to continue putting up structures.
