An editor of the Finder Newspaper and a member of the Interim Steering Committee of the Media Coalition on the Right to Information Bill (RTI), Mr Elvis Darko has been apprehended by the police in Parliament.

Mr. Darko, who is the Editor of the Finder newspaper, was picked up on the premises of parliament on Thursday, 15 November 2018, for unlawful picketing.


Mr. Darko and the coalition had gone to parliament to picket as part of moves to mount pressure on parliament to pass the Right to Information Bill (RTI) ahead of the presentation of the 2019 Budget by Ken Ofori Atta, Finance Minister.

The coalition is made up of several media practitioners. On Tuesday, 30 October 2018, members of the coalition were denied entry into parliament house.

The members declared they had intended a peaceful march to the legislature to remind the House of the need to pass the bill which has been in and out of parliament for almost two decades.
