The President of the National House of Chiefs of Togo and Paramount Chief of Notsie, Togbe Agorkoli IV, on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 paid a visit to President Nana Akufo-Addo at the seat of government, the Flagstaff House.

Agorkoli was accompanied by the President of Ghana's House of Chiefs, Togbe Afede XIV.

The visit was to extend fraternal greetings from the people of Notsie, the ancestral home of Ewes, and the people of Togo to Ghanaians.

It marked the first time a chief from Togo had visited Ghana’s seat of government.

Togbe Agorkoli IV hailed Akufo-Addo for his respect for the institution of chieftaincy, noting that the president’s acceptance of the request for a meeting confirms that point.

He also invited the president to the September 9th festival of the people of Notsie.

Thanking the chief for his visit, Akufo-Addo gave the assurance that the relationship between Ghana and Togo was one he would work to advance over the course of his tenure as president.

He said to that end he had agreed with with Faure Gnassingbe, the president of Togo, to meet on a regular basis to discuss issues pertaining to the development of the two countries.
