Three passengers died on the spot in a Monday dawn accident involving three vehicles on the Suhum stretch of the Kumasi-Accra highway. The accident left one other with serious injuries.

The fourth person in the bus who escaped death but sustained injuries has since been rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of the same hospital.

Eyewitness told Prime News Ghana on Monday June 18, 2018 that, a Hyundai mini bus with registration WR 2472-13, which was travelling from Accra to Suhum veered off its lane and crashed a trailer with registered GR 9892-12, killing the three persons instantly at the Suhum New Lorry station.

Another Hyundai, registered ER 492 -10, also crashed the first one Hyundai and landed on its side, our correspondent reported.

Eyewitness said the driver of the Hyundai bus which caused the accident was believed to be sleeping.

According to the driver of the tipper truck who gave his name as Sarfo, on reaching the Top Oil Fuel Station at about 3:15am, he realized the first Hyundai mini bus had veered off its lane and heading towards him.

He said though he gave way to the Hyundai by moving towards the shoulder of the road on his side, the mini bus driver still crashed into his truck.

The entire front section of the first Hyundai was mangled.

This the second time in less than a week that such accident has occured on the Accra-Kumasi road.
