The Police has begun investigations into how three suspects, including an ISIS member from Libya, trafficked hand grenades into the country.

Three arrests were made by the Odorkor Police Divisional command, and seven grenades and other explosives were found on the suspects, Monday.

In a Press briefing on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, the Inspector General of Police, David Asante Appeatu assured Ghanaians that the police is currently investigating the matter in coordination with the relevant agencies.

"We have begun interrogations to find out whether the suspects are terrorists, whether they are linked to any terrorist organizations, how they obtained the grenades and explosives, and if they have possible allies in the country", he said.

One of the suspects was picked up by police intelligence at Agape in Accra and it subsequently led to the arrest of two other suspects, with one believed to be a member of ISIS in Libya.

All three suspects are currently being held at the Police Headquarters for interrogation and investigation.

The police in a statement further appealed to the public to volunteer any relevant information related to the case under investigation through the 191 emergency line on all networks or 18555 (on Vodafone and MTN).
