Policeman crashed to death by speeding vehicle at Afienya

A policeman on patrol duties, Constable Emmanuel Lamptey, has been run down by a speeding vehicle whiles on duty at a check point on the Afienya-Akosombo road in the Greater Accra Region.

According to PrimeNewsGhana checks, Constable Emmanuel Lamptey, on Friday evening, was on patrol duties at a check point on the Afienya-Akosombo road when he was knocked down by the speeding Toyota Tundra with registration number GR 7530-13.

The driver, who has been identified as Benjamin Abasah, was heading towards Accra from Ho when the accident occurred.

The police Constable was rushed to the Tema General Hospital but died on arrival.

The suspect driver has been detained and the accident vehicle impounded at the Afienya Police Station.

PrimeNewsGhana sources indicate that the Policeman, Constable Emmanuel Lamptey was on duty with two other police officers, Inspector Daniel Adama and Corporal Raphael Kommeh.

Constable Emmanuel Lamptey is survived by an expectant mother and his body has since been deposited at the Police Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
