Police at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) have begun investigation into the suicide committed by Adwoa Agyarkwa Anyimadu-Antwi , a first-year Chemical Engineering student.

18-year-old Adwoa was found hanging on a nylon rope on the KNUST campus.

She left a suicide note in which she apologised to her parents for not being “the girl you want me to be”.

Adwoa had reportedly failed one of her courses and could not face the shame.

As part of investigations into the suicide, police have invited her roommate for interrogation.

The roommate is said to have been the first to spot Adwoa hanging on a rope in their room at Independence Hall when she returned from a lecture.

The KNUST police commander, DSP Boakye Ansah, says a post-mortem is expected to take place on Monday and that whatever misery is behind the suicide will be uncovered by the police.

Adwoa was daughter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akyem central Constituency, Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi
