The Presbyterian Church of Ghana on Wednesday, August 24, 2106, at its 16th General Assembly held at Abetifi, Kwahu in the Eastern Region, elected Reverend Professor Cephas Narh Omenyo to succeed outgoing moderator, Reverend Professor Emmanuel Martey.
Rev. Prof. Omenyo who won 116 votes (57 percent) but to secure the 70 percent plus endorsement for his nomination was elected in a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ ballot after his contenders, Rev Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante;  and Rev. Hubert Anim Oppong managed 60 votes (29 percent) and 27 votes (13 percent) respectively for their nomination withdrew from the next process.
The election thus ended with 209 delegates (96.76%) voting ‘Yes’ while seven of them (3.2%) voted ‘No’.Â
