President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo on Friday, March 24 2017 cut the sod for the construction of a new French embassy at Cantonment in Accra.

President Akufo-Addo expressed satisfaction with the amicable settlement to relocate the French embassy from its current location just beside the seat of Ghana's government (Flagstaff House) to Cantonment because of security reasons.

According to the French Ambassador to Ghana, Pujolas François Pujolas, he said the building is expected to be completed within 18 months.

He also express optimism about Ghana – France relationship, “bilateral relationship between the two countries will be strengthened” as Ghana marks its 60th anniversary, with the French also celebrating 60 years of friendship between France and Ghana.

The yet to commence French embassy was designed by Claude Guyon, a French license architect, with Micheletti & Co Limited expected to execute the project.Â
