Former President John Agyekum Kufuor says restoring the Ghanaian economy was his greatest achievement.
Kufuor became President of Ghana in 2001 and met an almost dead economy.
Ghana in that era was declared HIPC and Kufuor says he put all measures in place to revive the Ghanaian economy.
"The economy was down when I assumed office, we were termed as not creditworthy, I had to put things in place to attract donors and most of the creditors forgave our debt"
"Agric was not performing, the cedi was not doing well against the dollar" he spoke in an interview on the Joy Super Morning show.
Kufuor added that introducing the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) was also a great initiative because the cash and carry system was not helping Ghanaians.
Kufuor also introduced free maternal health care in public hospitals for all expectant mothers.
He turned 80 last Saturday, December 8.
