A 25-year-old trader, Lekia Adjeley, was nearly raped by her co-tenant at James Town in Accra while sleeping half naked in her room.
The co-tenant, 45-year-old fisherman, Oscar Annetey Abbey is reported to have broken into Adjeley's room at about 2:30 am on August 23, smeared pomade in between her buttocks after pulling his erected penis ostensibly to have sex with her before she woke up and raised an alarm.
Abbey fled but was later was arrested; charged with causing unlawful damage, unlawful entry and indecent assault; and put before an Accra Circuit Court presided over by Mrs Rubby Naa Akweley Qauison where he pleaded guilty to causing unlawful entry but denied the two other charges.
The court, GNA reports, has convicted him on his plea and remanded him into Police custody to reappear on September 7 for sentencing.
