Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in UK for a Medical leave

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the late hours of Friday, 19th January 2018, left Ghana for the United Kingdom for a medical leave.

According to a letter signed by the Chief of Staff, Frema Opare said, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia left for London on the advice of his doctors.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was accompanied by his wife the second lady of the Republic of Ghana, Samira Bawumia.

Vice President Dr Bawumia falls ill

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was reported ill yesterday January 18, 2018.

A statement from the Presidency signed and posted on the Facebook Timeline of the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin said: “the Vice President of the Republic, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in the early hours of Friday, 19th January 2018, reported feeling unwell.”

According to the statement, doctors have attended to him and are still monitoring his recovery process.

The statement did not state the cause of the sudden illness but said further information about his health status will be communicated in due course.

Bawumia back home after falling ill

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has returned to his Kanda residence after falling ill earlier today [Friday].

It is unclear what ailment he may have suffered from, according to reports the Vice President is back home after leaving the Hospital.

A statement signed early on by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, had indicated that the Vice President “reported feeling unwell…in the early hours of Friday.”

“He was attended to by his doctors and is currently undergoing medical tests and observation. Any further information will be duly communicated,” the statement added.
