The Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers Association, National Petroleum Authority and the Energy Ministry have agreed to consider a proposal by the LPG marketers for changes to the implementation of the cylinder re-circulation model
The LPG marketers association in October instructed member across the country to shut operations in protest, claiming the model will run them out of business.
The Energy Ministry accused the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Marketers Association of trying to hold the government to ransom with its mass closure of gas filling stations in the country.
However, addressing the Press after a meeting Deputy Minister of Energy in charge of petroleum, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam said the implementation committee chaired by the Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Hassan Tampuli, has been asked to factor in the concerns of the LPG marketers association in the new policy.
Meanwhile, the LPG marketers have said they are hopeful the implementation committee will take holistic steps to address their concerns.
