Graduates who will be employed next year as captured in the 2018 budget will earn as less as GHS47.
That’s according to the Editor of the Insight Newspaper who said per his calculation the 50million Ghana Cedis allocation made for 100,000 graduates to be employed under the Nation Builders Corps program will earn 47 Cedis.
Finance minister Ken Ofori Atta during the reading of the 2018 budget revealed that as a way to curb graduate unemployment in the country, government will through Nation Builders Corps program employ 100,000 graduates.
“Nation Builders Corps program will hire 100,000 graduates in 2018 to be posted to various districts across the country. On average, under this program every district should be able to provide jobs for 462 graduates."
But in reaction to the initiative by government, Kwesi Pratt said the initiative sounds good but looking at the amount the graduate will learn a month will deter them from rolling for the initiative. He concluded that it will difficult for someone to leave on 47 Cedis monthly.
