The Deputy Director of Finance and Administration at the National Commission For Civic Education (NCCE), Josephine Nkrumah has expressed optimism that the campaign for women to get involved in active politics is yielding dividends.
She submitted that a recent study undertaken showed 58% of Ghanaians preferred to vote for a female presidential and parliamentary candidate to a male one adding the jump was an 8% increase from the study undertaken in 2012.
She called on Civil Society Organisations, Non-Governmental Organisations and other stakeholders to put more work to keep the momentum going.

Meanwhile the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei speaking on the platform of the ‘Ask the EC’ programme, noted that mudslinging in the political arena dissuades otherwise qualified women from vying for positions because of the quest to protect their families form such scandalous attacks pointing out that it took only the very brave to venture in active politics even public service for that matter.
