Akufo-Addo instructs A-G to prepare, submit to Parliament specific legislation to deal with vigilantism
President Akufo-Addo has instructed the Attorney General to prepare and submit to Parliament specific legislation to deal with vigilantism in the country.
The NDC in a second letter to the President asked for wider participation in the dialogue of vigilantism.
“Our position on participation is quite simple: a lasting solution to the crisis of political violence requires that we involve all stakeholders. This is generally accepted as good practice…the stakeholders in the struggle against political violence cannot reasonably be limited to the two largest political parties”.
Addressing the issues raised in the second letter of the NDC, President Akufo-Addo believes the parliamentary process of enactment affords sufficient space for any citizen to make input or contribution to the enactment of a good and effective law whose implementation will enable us to rid our nation of politically-related violence.
