Speaking to Accra-based Rainbow Radio, Anyidoho cited the seizing of cars and the raiding of houses of opposition figures by soldiers and national security officials as evidence of what he called Akufo-Addo descent into despotism.

He said with Akufo-Addo’s reputation as a human rights activist and lawyer, the president ought to be able to call his people to order and prevent them from taking the law into their hands.

He said Akufo-Addo did not come to power through a coup or rebellion, but through an election and so he must govern according to the dictates of the constitution.

“We do not want Akufo Addo to turn into Hitler. We do not want a despot to be created out of Nana Addo. We want him to succeed and so we do not want him to become a dictate.

“Nana Addo should tell us how he intend to implement his free SHS, pay DKM customers, implement the 1-district-1-factor among other promises but this case where the Lord Commey’s and Co are hiding at the presidency and issuing tyrannical comments; that will not be accepted, that will not be countenance,” he said.

Armed soldiers and national security operatives recently raided the home of Kofi Adams, the national organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and seized five of his vehicles.

The vehicles were eventually returned after the government determined that they were not state vehicles.
