The Appointments Committee of Parliament has recommended the approval of the Chief Justice (CJ) nominee, Justice Sophia Akuffo.
This follows a six-hour vetting of Justice Akuffo last Friday in which she is largely thought to have creditably justified her nomination after answering questions from over 30 Members of Parliament (MPs).
According to the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Joe Osei- Owusu the report on the vetting is ready and will be laid before the House today [Monday], June 19.
Speaking in an interview on JoyNews, Mr Osei-Owusu revealed that the committee had unanimously recommended that the nominee be made the CJ.
If approved by the House, Justice Akuffo will become the 13th Chief Justice and the second woman to occupy that position in Ghana's history.
