A member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abraham Amaliba has charged at people criticising President John Mahama for dressing in party colours when presenting outboard motors to some fishermen in the Western Region.

The presentation of outboard motors at a time when the president is campaigning has elicited a lot of criticisms with the anti-corruption body, Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) saying the president was not only engaging in vote buying but also abusing incumbency.

The NDC has stated that the president was only performing his duties and that government activities cannot be halted because he is campaigning.

The NDC's position , however, has not been helped by the fact President Mahama wore an NDC t-shirt at the presentation ceremony with many arguing that if indeed the outboard motors were not distributed as part of his campaign, then he ought not have worn party paraphernalia.

But speaking on Joy FM's Newsfile programme on Saturday, Mr Amaliba said, it was arrogant for people to want to choose what the president should wear.

"The president chooses what he wants to wear. What law has broken by wearing a t-shirt?. He is affable and has swag, so he chose to wear a t-shirt", he said, retorting sarcastically, "Are you Lordina to tell what to wear, what arrogance is that? Are you his dressmaker?"
