Ayawaso West violence: NUGS calls on gov't to identify, punish masked security men
The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has called on government to identify and punish the masked security personnel who assaulted voters during Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election held on January 31 2019.
According to NUGS, failure to do so will only endorse assertions that the government lacks control over the security situation in the country.
In an interview with citinews, monitored by PrimenewsGhana, The President of the group(NUGS) Gombilla Sadiq Mohammed said:
''If its a by-election and this happening then what it means is that 2020 will be worse. That is why the National Union of Ghana Students(NUGS) came out categorically to condemn the act and want Ghanaians across the world to condemn this act whether the government or the opposition.
He revealed,''Nevertheless, we(NUGS) want to state it categorically, the youth secretariat will not look back or will not sit aloof we have made our statement and we are straining a strange caution to the government.
''If the government fails within this possible time to bring the perpetrators of this serious crime to book, the National Union of Ghana Students(NUGS) will know what to do the next time some of these things happen''.The President stated
Gombilla Sadiq Mohammed added that ''the government knows the perpetrators, these are people who have always involved in activities of this government. We are saying that what the government is saying is a cock and bull story.''
