The annual delegates conference of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Subin Constituency in the Ashanti regional capital of Kumasi turned chaotic as supporters struggled for accreditation to enter the conference venue.

Heated exchanges degenerated into hefty blows between delegates after the constituency chairman, Mr Amankwaah arrived at the venue and was refused entry by some heavily built men(macho)  men in charge of security

The refusal to allow him entry infuriated some of the party supporters who refused to stand down their protests until he was allowed entry. As a chairman of the party in the constituency, the constitution allows him the right to preside over the meeting and refusal to allow him entry, according to his supporters, was unacceptable.

The angry supporters accused the Member of Parliament Eugene Antwi of being behind the confusion, and vowed to teach him a lesson.

The constituency has been polarized since the last party’s primaries after series of clashes between supporters of the current MP and the former Isaac Osei, who now heads the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR)
