The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Charlotte Osei has been summoned to appear before Parliament next week, to give clarity on how much the Commission expended on the replacement of lost Voters ID Cards, and how much revenue was realized from  accreditation fees charged journalists for coverage of the 2016 general elections.

The EC Chairperson will be expected to provide responses to the questions from the legislative body on how the monies were used.

The EC prior to the 2016 general elections asked journalists, for the first time, to pay for their accreditation before covering the elections.

The summon was triggered by a submission from Subin Member of Parliament Eugene Boakye Antwi, who wanted clarity on how much the Commission raised in fees for accreditation by journalists and how it was used.
