Former President Jerry John Rawlings has cautioned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) not to be complacent in the upcoming general elections.

Speaking at a well-attended campaign launch of the party's 2016 campaign at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday, he said it would be to the disadvantage of the NDC to underestimate the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

"The NPP cannot be underestimated. You know it and I know it because they 've been in existence for a long time", he warned.

According to him, "It's important to recognise that the campaign is going to be challenge and it's going to be demanding".

He further stated that NDC should not mimic the NPP in their ways but rather focus on delivering value to electorates. The founder further stated that any attempts to mimic the NPP will rather be disastrous to the fortunes of the NDC and stated that if the party wants to win the 2016 then those government and party officials who are mimicking those traits of the NPP must stop and focus on working to win the trust of the electorate.

"they have been there and they have been changing their names till now".

He called on party members to be responsible during the campaign saying "We need to go through the campaign as responsibly as possible".
