The residence of the former Minister of Power Dr. Kwabena Donkor has been raided by personnel from the Criminal Investigative Department [CID] of the Ghana Police Service in Accra. The personnel after the search took with them a laptop and four pen drives.
Narrating the incident to JoyFM, Dr Donkor said he had a call from staff at his residence that some security personnel with a warrant are requesting to search his apartment. He then drove back home and allowed the security personnel to conduct the search.

According to him, the police said the search is in connection with investigations into whether he caused financial loss to the state in the infamous Ameri power deal signed during the Mahama administration.

The Ameri deal was a contract signed between the Government of Ghana and Ameri Energy during the power crisis for the supply of gas turbines to Ghana. It was to provide additional power to the national grid to ease the debilitating load shedding exercise that plagued the country at the time.

The New Patriotic Party administration after assumption of office set-up a 17-member committee to investigate the agreement over claims it was inflated to the tune of $150million.

Dr Kwabena Donkor wondered why the CID would raid his residence in search of documents on the deal which are already public record and hinted that he will petition the Speaker of Parliament because he is a sitting member of Parliament and due protocols were not followed per the parliamentary regulations before the raid.
