Following the incarceration of the Montie 3 comprising Alistair Nelson, Godwin Ako Gunn and Salifu Maase alias Mugabe for four months at the Nsawam prison for threatening to kill justices of the Supreme Court, a pro NDC group ‘The Research and Advocacy Platform’ (RAP), is on a campaign to harvest one million signatures to petition president Mahama for clemency for the three.
The three men were handed the custodial sentence on July 27, by the Supreme Court for contempt and charged GH₵10,000 each which reports claim have been paid.
RAP set up base at Radio Gold’s premises on July 28, and has since seen National Democratic Congress functionaries including Deputy Chief of Staff Dr. Valerie Sawyer, Deputy Minister of Petroleum Benjamin Dagadu, Deputy Education Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ayawaso North MP Ahmed Mustapha, Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Minister, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare all signing the petition.

It remains to be seen if president Mahama would use his prerogative of mercy, as stated in Article 72 of the 1992 Constitution, to pardon the three convicts.
