Hold 'Meet-The-Press' to propagate gov't programmes - MMDCEs told

All Metropolitan, municipal and district chief executives (MMDCE) have been directed to organise meet-the-press in their areas to propagate government flagship programmes.

The directive was given by the Information Ministry through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.

It explained the directive is to ensure that development communication plays a major role in the national agenda.

A wireless message from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development asked all regional ministers across the country to ensure the MMDCEs hold the media engagement between October 23 and October 25.

The MMDCEs have been asked to give “account of development projects with pictorial evidence of projects undertaken within their respective jurisdictions”.

They are also to follow-up interviews with media houses in their respective districts, with the help of the metropolitan/ municipal and district information officers.

Also, the MDCECs are to take engage the citizenry in their respective districts and take feedback from them.

The wireless message dated October 18 said the MMDCEs will be required to submit a report on the event to the Minister of Information with a copy to the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development.
