The National Executive Committee [NEC] of the People’s National Convention [PNC] has appointed Jacob Amoako as acting General Secretary of the Party.
Jacob Amoako will replace Atik Mohammed who was suspended indefinitely by the NEC  for gross "misbehavior and misconduct" last week.

Mr. Mohammed was suspended after he criticized the party’s 2016 presidential candidate Dr. Edward Mahama, for accepting an ambassadorial appointment from President Nana Akufo-Addo.

He is also accused of bringing the image of the party into disrepute and repeatedly throwing invectives at Dr. Edward Mahama during NEC meetings.

PNC Communications Director Emmanuel Wilson confirmed the suspension of Atik Mohammed in a statement which said he does not have the mandate to henceforth represent the party in any capacity.

But Atik Mohammed has maintained he has not been suspended and that no organ in the party, except congress, possesses such authority to suspend him.
