Kwesi Botchwey committee presents 2016 electoral defeat report to the NDC party

The Prof Kwesi Botchwey-led committee  tasked to investigate the election defeat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 general elections has presented its report to the party.
The committee today June 19 handed over the official findings to party leadership at the headquarters of the NDC in Accra.

The 455-page document contains detailed account of what led to the defeat of the NDC.
 
The committee was tasked to investigate possible reasons for the electoral defeat of the party in the 2016 general elections and make recommendations for the restructuring and re-organisation of the party to position it for Election 2020.
 
Some of the recommendation according to the committee includes a peace healing tour of all constituencies in the country, a restoration of integrity into the party's biometric register and expanded electoral college, building an effective party constituency organs as an immediate connection with the grassroots, and building a strong intellectual capacity of the party.

Receiving the document, the general secretary of the party Johnson Asiedu Nketia said the National Executive Council [NEC] will meet and deliberate over the findings of the committee and take necessary steps to avert the shortfalls found by the the report.
 
He indicated the party is happy with the work done by the committee.
 
The 13-member committee toured the country to meet with the party’s grassroots and other groups to solicit information about the 2016 elections and the way forward.
