The sharp response of the police in Tamale, the Northern regional capital averted a possible clash which could have led to injuries or even death.
Reports suggest as opposition parties embarked on their protest march to register their disgust at high tariff charges and cost of living, pro National Democratic Congress group, ‘Azorka Boys’ infiltrated the demonstrators around the 'Vodafone traffic light' which led to momentary disorganization.
Calm however has been restored and the demonstrators have resumed their march termed ‘Times are hard’.
Opposition political parties led by the New Patriotic Party but supported by the CPP, PPP, NDP and APC are demonstrating in Tamale over the economic situation in the country.
The police had wished for the march to be held after the president’s tour of the region but organizers held it was too late to call off the march.
