Francis Xavier Sosu elected NDC parliamentary candidate for Madina

Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu has been elected as the NDC parliamentary candidate for Madina constituency for the 2020 general elections.

 

Mr Xavier-Sosu won the party’s parliamentary primaries on Saturday, 24 August 2019.

The lawyer polled 661 to beat his closest contender Mr Sidii Abubakar who polled 480 votes.

Mr Ibrahim Hussein Faila came third with 217 votes with Hajia Rukaya gathering only 16 votes.

In a related development, the sitting MP for Ningo Prampram Sam George emerged victorious with a narrow win.

Mr George polled 407 votes beating his opponent Michael Kwetteh by only seven votes. Mr Kwetteh had 400 votes.

The renowned Human Rights activist, Francis Xavier Sosu has vowed to wrestle power from the incumbent NPP MP in the 2020 elections.

Speaking in an interview with a section of journalists in Accra, the renowned lawyer indicated that his Strength and performance in the 2015 primaries of the NDC showed he would have won the elections if it had not been characterised by irregularities.

According to him, a cosmopolitan area like Madina needs an individual like Sosu who is a diversity of the people and identifies with them.
On the issue of employment, lawyer Sosu said he will help find job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youth who are sometimes engaged in all forms of social vices and also fall prey to irresponsible adults.

In 2017 Lawyer Xavier-Sosu was banned for three years from practicing as a lawyer.

A statement announcing his suspension from the General Legal Council said the lawyer was investigated and found guilty of professional misconduct under Rule 2(4) of the legal profession (professional conduct and etiquette).

“The disciplinary committee of the General Legal Council formally charged Lawyer Sosu under Rule 2(4) of the legal profession (professional conduct and etiquette) Rules, 1969 L.I. 613 and that he; while acting as Council for Torgbui Afede XIV, in a matter between Torgbui Afede and the Chief of Defense Staff, minister of interior, Attorney General and another took to Facebook with pictures of the parties and comments on the case to the public with his firm’s name, address and telephone numbers attached, with the primary motive of personal advertisement and touting,”
