Despite the manifesto of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) not being ready, the party will launch its campaign for the 2016 general elections next week.

According to the party’s Campaign team spokesperson, Joyce Bawah Mogtari said although the campaign will be launched on August 14, 2016 in the central region, the manifesto will be released at a later date, Joy News' Joseph Ackah-Blay reports.

“The manifesto launch is still in the offing and when we are ready it will be communicated in due course, but Sunday will be specifically to outdoor our candidate and to officially launch our 2016 campaign for the elections,” she said at a news conference in Accra on Monday.

She indicated that the theme for this year’s campaign will be “Changing lives, transforming Ghana.”

The party, Mrs Mogtari stated, is certain that President John Mahama will be re-elected in December adding that President Mahama is “the best candidate for this year’s election.”

On his part, National campaign coordinator, Kofi Adams explained to Joy FM that it is a usual practice of the party to launch campaign before the manifesto.

He had earlier in an interview indicated that the party’s manifesto will be focusing on “investing in our people that will change their lives and transform Ghana”.

Giving hints of the content of the yet-to-be released document, Kofi Adams said the manifesto would continue to place premium on human development and welfare, as well as infrastructure development.

The NDC 2016 manifesto, Mr Adams further disclosed, would also capture the socio-economic and political realities after 2012 and then showcase governments’ programmes and activities that would bring out the realities beyond 2016.
