Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has described the current troubles in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as "just a passing wind" which will normalise in no time.

The NDC, since its defeat in the 2016 general elections has seen a lot of divisions and chaos as it seeks to find out the reasons for its humbling defeat.

Many supporters have criticised their executives from the constituency to national level as having mismanaged campaign resources which caused their defeat.

In light of this, the work of the committee headed by former Finance Minister, Professor Kwesi Botchwey which was set up to hear complaints from the supporters has been impeded.

While some party supporters have shown disregard for the platform offered and have either gone ahead to castigate their executives in the media others have tried to stop the committee's work with a case in point being the holding of hostage of the committee's members during their visit to the Eastern Regional capital of Koforidua.

Having positioned itself as a united party which was well focused on delivering its campaign promises much more than the New Patriotic Party (NPP) which it described as divided and not ready to govern the country, the current situation in the NDC comes as a surprise with many fearing that the situation may worsen.

But speaking on Joy FM's Newsfile on Saturday, the North Tongu MP stated the NDC's situation was a "momentary slide [a phase] that will pass" and will not get any worse than it is now.

For him, the current troubles of the NDC were not anywhere near what pertained in the NPP before the 2016 elections and so if the NPP could win power, the NDC could also win back power.

"I can tell you that it will not get any worse than this. We will put our house in order. We will reflect, we will review, we will revitalise, we will reorganise and we shall recapture power in 2020", he said.

Moreover, Mr Ablakwa who is a former Deputy Minister of Education pointed out that this is not the first time the NDC had lost elections so they were going to bounce back just like the last time

"We've been here before. We've lost elections before and we were able to put our house in order and do what was needed and we won power", he added.

Going forward, he appealed to all members of the party to channel all their grievances to the Prof. Botchwey Committee saying "at this point what we need is a truce and I want to appeal to everybody [for] that truce".
