The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is bent on winning the hearts of Voltarians and will work seriously to remove the misconceptions which the people of the region have about the party, President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated.

According to him, the NPP will not give up on seeking the maximum support of the people for the Volta Region.

The Volta Region has since the start of the Fourth Republic in 1993 been a waterloo for the NPP and though its votes improved significantly, the region contributed the least number of votes to Nana Addo's resounding victory in the just-ended general elections.

This was after the widely reported massive reception Nana Addo received during his campaign tour of the of the region before the elections.

But addressing the Volta Regional House of Chiefs on Saturday as part of the celebrants at a ceremony to mark the election of Agbogbomefia of Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV  as President of the National House of Chiefs, an optimistic Akufo-Addo said the NPP was hopeful of wooing Voltarians someday.

“I recall the statement made by you Togbe Afede during my last visit. You said the Volta Region was not loyal housewife waiting for her husband who only came home only when he was hungry.

“You said the Volta Region was a beautiful bride awaiting an appropriate suitor. The NPP has taken you at your word and we will continue to woo the Volta Region until we marry the bride,” said Akufo-Addo.

The President-elect also has assured the chiefs and people of the region that he will carry through with his promises of bringing development to the Region.
